Time is flying

So much going on and yet I just want to keep adding more. I will never recommend to anyone to plan a wedding and try to accomplish something major at the same time (CPA exam studying and wedding planning together is a recipe for stress…mostly the studying part). And now that I see a definite light at the end of the tunnel, I’m trying to find more things to do to fill up my time. My upcoming events are:

  • Feb 27 – REG section of the CPA exam at noon and margaritas immediately after.
  • Feb 28 – Girls day in Fredericksburg and surround hill country for some wine tasting
  • March 7 – Dodgeball tournament
  • March 11 – Happy Hour at Max’s Wine Dive with my Reception photographer to talk about my album, event, and bridals
  • April 10 – Dress Fitting
  • April 24 – Bridal Shower in Kansas
  • May 22 – Bachelorette Party
  • Lingerie Shower – Date TBD in May
  • Bridals – Date TBD in May
  • June 12-20 – Dominican Republic for Wedding/Honeymoon
  • June 26 – Wedding Reception

As if these aren’t enough to focus on for the time being, I really want to start painting different room in the house and remodel some of our walls. I also want to start training for a triathalon but not sure where to start. The most I have ever done is a 10k with obstacles and that was fun but I need something more challenging. I’m a little hesitant to start though because if, God forbid, I don’t pass this exam on Saturday, I will need to divert my efforts from training back to studying. I also want to start playing sports again. I haven’t played softball since like July/August 2009 and I’m kinda missing it.
At least with all that is currently going on, time is going to fly and this wedding will come sooner that it seems. I can’t believe I will be married in less than 4 months!

Hell of a morning

Oh man did I have one hell of a week but the icing on the cake was Friday morning. Let me just start at the beginning.

  • First of all, there were 4 late nights in row so the beginning of the week was already super exhausting. Was up til almost 4 am playing poker at my brothers Friday (Feb 12) night, went downtown Saturday night for Amanda's birthday, went to Gruene Hall for a Bob Schneider concert for Valentines day and then had volleyball Monday night.

  • Monday night, our dogs slept with us and we leave the bedroom door open. BIG MISTAKE. Colt decides to get out of bed at about 12:45 am and have a hay day in the living room. Coffee knocked over onto the carpet (no, I should not have left my half full coffee cup out), pistachio seeds everywhere, shredded up papers, a water bottle punctured and spilled everywhere, even on the IRA papers I was filling out to send in. Good thing I didn't leave my study materials in there for him to tear up as well.

  • I start having nightmares about the dance troop I hired for my wedding reception cancelling on me and having no entertainment so I start frantically emailing them everyday to make sure my date is still booked.

  • Wednesday, Colt decides to pull our 30 lb outdoor fountain around the yard.

  • Friday morning when Brandon was leaving for work, he noticed I have a flat tire. UGH!!! So we spend the next 30 minutes changing it. When we go back inside, Colt has completely ransacked our house. He stood on his hind legs and knocked over a glass of ice water. He pulled on the bamboo place mat on my kitchen table knocking over one of my asian dish sets and shattering the rice bowl, stuff was ALL OVER the living room including a shredded book cover. The nightstand in the bedroom was completely empty b/c he knocked everything off and even left scratch marks. The stuff on the master bathroom counter had been knocked into one of the sinks with the exception of the tissues, which made it to the floor for some doggy shredding! OH MAN! By the time we had gotten back in the house, I had about 15 minutes to get ready for work so I ended up looking like crap all day.

Wedding Registry

What happens when you take your fiancĂ©e to register for wedding gifts? You register for things such as a $0.99 pan scraper. Why didn’t we just buy it? I took him with me to pick out our cookware since we desperately need to upgrade. He starts playing with random items instead of paying much attention and picks up a pan scraper and says “Here scan this” and I’m not really paying a whole lot of attention. Later when I’m looking back over the registry, I see that and just laugh.

Wedding Details are Coming Together

I placed the order for my wedding invitations last week or late the week before.....I can't quite remember. They were shipped out on Thursday, 1/28/10. I'm so excited. It took me a while to figure out exactly how to do them since I'm doing 2 completely separate events for the ceremony and reception. I picked out invitations very unique for the ceremony and decided I loved them so much, I wanted everyone to have them. I originally wanted to two separate sets of invitations so that no one confused the dates....especially those invited to the ceremony but who can't make it. But since pretty much everyone is going, I decided that it will be easy to get around the confusion.

I also contacted the photograper that I'm using for the Austin reception and since she is still starting up her business and getting her website going, she said she would do bridals for free since they need more bridals for her website. I wasn't even going to have bridals done because I thought it was a waste money. I was, instead, going to wait til after the wedding and reception and hire a photographer to do a "trash the dress" session and literally trash my dress! I got the idea for the photographer I'm using in the Dominican Republic and it looks sooooo fun!

I have my appointment to have my dress fitted on April 10, meeting with my photographer on March 11, I have already done most of my registry, the bridesmaid dresses are ordered, ordered the groomsman gifts, etc. The only things I really have left to do are things I can't do until it's gets closer.

And for the fun part......only 4.5 months until I'm a married woman!!! I can't believe it.
